About Teachers Pets Care and Rescue
Based in Troon, Cornwall, we are a devoted family-run pet care and animal rescue team providing compassionate dog walking, bespoke pop-in visits, and dedicated small animal rescue since 2018.
From the classroom to caring for pets
I am Charlene, the founder of Teachers Pets Care and Rescue. Formerly working as a teaching assistant, I initially launched our services in 2018 to care for local animals during the school holidays. It did not take long to realise that working closely with animals was my true life calling.
Having grown up surrounded by dogs, cats, and chickens, I have nurtured creatures of all shapes and sizes throughout my adult life—from our beloved husky and sweet Shih Tzu to rabbits, hamsters, degus, and rescued wildlife. In 2022, my husband Dave joined as my permanent partner on pop-in visits, bringing decades of experience with cats, ferrets, and small animals. As a tight-knit family team, we guarantee reliable backup so your pets are never left without loving attention.
Our rescue work and community commitment
Beyond our daily pet care services, our hearts belong to animal welfare. On a case-by-case basis, we open our doors to rescue cats, kittens, and small animals in need of refuge and rehabilitation.
Witnessing the ongoing kitten crisis and the sheer volume of abandoned felines inspired us to step forward and make a tangible difference across Cornwall. We also actively volunteer with regional wildlife rescues, assisting with critical transport for injured birds, hedgehogs, and other native creatures to ensure they receive urgent care before returning to the wild.

Whether we are taking your dog on a stimulating group walk, offering a quiet one-to-one stroll, or popping in for 20 to 30 minutes to clean litter trays, feed, play, and take in the post, we treat your pets as if they were our own.
